It’s our first Member Spotlight of the fall, for which we are pleased to introduce you to Executive Mom Lizandra Vega, from New York, NY.  Here’s a little more about her:

Quick Career Description:

I am an Executive Recruiter, Career Coach and Certified Image Consultant… and now I can also say ‘author,’ since I just published the book, "The Image of Success: Make A Great Impression And Land The Job You Want."

The More-Than-One-Line Career Description:

Having worked as a recruiter for 8 years, I co-founded a full-service boutique staffing firm called Perennial Resources International (PRI), located in New York City. Writing a book had always been a huge goal of mine and I am thrilled to have been able to complete it in spite of many challenging obstacles, commitments and responsibilities (including becoming pregnant, and then having a newborn baby in the midst of this).
I’ve spent the past 15+ years helping individual job seekers find the job of their dreams and I’ve learned an awful lot from their successes and their mistakes. I now want to share my wisdom with all those who are currently unemployed or seeking internal promotions, through various communication mediums.

Fast Family Facts:

I married my junior high school sweetheart and we’ve been happily married for close to 17 years. We have two precious miracles: a talented and vivacious 9-year-old daughter and a precocious almost two-year-old son.

A Piece of Personal Trivia:

My husband teases me about how
I have a way of learning someone’s life story within a five minute conversation. He’s actually not wrong about it. I don’t even ask any questions, people just open up to me. Sometimes it’s more than I want to know, but I suppose I should take it as a compliment that they feel so comfortable with me that they can share private information about themselves. Call it the gift of gab or the gift of listening.  I guess that’s why I like to write about what I learn in conversation (without naming any names, of course).

Executive Mom Pearl of Wisdom:

I’ve learned that I am not alone in being a woman who juggles motherhood and home life with a career and work life. Everyone does it a little bit differently; some of us have nannies, others of us choose group care or some have relatives who pitch in. Yet in the end, after all of our education, merits and accolades, being an Executive Mom is what defines and unites us as members.  Nothing gives me greater joy and satisfaction than witnessing the successes and growth of my children. It’s a universal bond that we Moms share.
