In this weeks My Wired Style pod cast on itunes we speak with Kirk and Deby Dearman. Kirk and Deby are pioneers in worship and the arts. From cathedrals in Europe to concert halls in Jerusalem they have sung their way into hearts around the world.
Together, they have combined their talents, creating a concert of beautiful music, stirring multi-media and spoken blessings to calm the soul and soothe the mind in the midst of these stressful times. Their song “We Bring The Sacrifice Of Praise” is still sung in churches today.

When you look at Kirk and Deby’s DISC wiring, they are opposites and yet they have found a path to harmony by leveraging each others strengths. They speak about it in our pod cast interview with them.
What about as parents? When we are wired opposite from our child, it can be a great way to leverage each others strengths. But for many families today the question is how? How do I take my need for an orderly, quiet home and make it work with my child who has strong I wiring, is very talkative, outgoing and well…a little messy?
Then there is the question of nurturing strengths, how do we as parents nurture the strengths of our children when we are not familiar with those strengths because they are not our own?
I love the story Kirk shared about the piano that his Dad gave him as a gift which he still treasures today. You see that piano helped to show Kirk that his Dad appreciated his gift as a composer, songwriter and singer. It is a treasure to both Kirk and Deby today.

So if you are a parent how do you validate and nurture your child’s strengths today?
