Lunch Breaks

How true is the saying “there’s no such thing as a free lunch…” literally and proverbially.  Yet with painful deference to our new economic reality, the idea of spending a little less on dining out has timely appeal.   Especially if you’re just not the brown-bagging sort…

You can be among the first to get texted with local restaurant offers from www.Lunchtimemeals.com

Just getting underway in Beta now, this site enables you to enter your home and/or office address, and then it sends you a weekly email and text messages with neighborhood dining discounts.  It’s like a bargains-only edition of www.seamlessweb.com  (another of our favorites)… with the convenience of letting you flash your special offer straight from your mobile device at a participating establishment.  The listings are still on the slim side, but a couple of NYC examples include 50% off a group of popular Indian restaurants; $1.50 off salads at a midtown cafe.  (Other markets like DC, Boston and Chicago appear to be on their way).

Give it a try at www.lunchtimemeals.com

And here’s the family equivalent…

Perfect for when you are road-tripping with the kids… or just heading out to dinner without any special occasion behind it, take a quick glance down this list of “Kids Eat Free” deals, organized by state.  Consider this fair warning that the offerings skew more Denny’s than Nobu… but we found some pleasant surprises buried within.  No coupon cutting required here either; it’s simply about being in the know…
