We all need a little help sometimes (sometimes, a LOT of help). And one of the most common need gaps for executive moms is what we tend to think of as “patchwork” help…

In response, there is a new, NY-based service that matches college students who want jobs, with those who need the help…

CollegeQuickJobs.com was founded by two former University of Virginia students who seized upon this simple yet inspired matchmaking premise. Originated as a result in Charlottesville, VA, the site and service just launched in the NY area in April, already tapping hundreds of employment- eager collegians primarily from Columbia, Pace and NYU for babysitting gigs, as well as jobs ranging from tutoring to dog walking to running errands.

How it works…

Any parent (any adult, for that matter) can post a job on their website, at no charge. Interested students with a valid email address from these schools can search these postings and apply for any job that interests them. As the potential employer, College Quick Jobs provides you with the background of each applicant (their skills, experience, performance ratings, and profile pictures– everything except the contact information) for you to pre-screen. If you are interested in moving forward, candidates’ contact information is then provided at a cost of $12.99 for 3 student applicants ($1.99 for any additional).

Some of the employment possibilities we can imagine…

Help with an elderly parent; afterschool childcare (for that impossible phase when you no longer need full-time childcare but aren’t up to real self-sufficiency); part-time childcare; pet care when you travel… or the more commonplace but critical Saturday night babysitter.

Take a look– and you can tell any friends in Boston, Washington, and Philadelphia this service should be heading to their cities soon…
