We admit to having a soft spot for gifts of the “moment- in-time,” personalized variety. Yet if you cannot bear another photo of your children who surely broke the mold, here is another apt option…
A Casted Sculpture of Small Hands (or Feet), Turned Into Art… They are created by Hands in Time, a relatively new company founded by two women (one a mother, one a grandmother) who sparked to the concept of capturing a moment in a child’s development and turning into a memorable keepsake. |
How Each Work is Created: Since these are true individual works, a first fieldtrip is required, to their studio in Manhattan so that a cast of those little hands and/or feet can be made. (They use a non-toxic powder with warm water and the whole process only takes about 3 minutes). From there, you choose the kind of art form you wish it to take, and your creation is delivered in about 6 weeks. |
Think Self-Gifting for Mother’s Day, Think the Grandmothers… or Think Ahead to Father’s Day…
(If you are concerned about timing you can always do a gift certificate). This is also a special new baby gift– though increasingly the artists are creating pieces involving children much older than tots– with deference to the fact that there are many moments over a lifetime we all wish we could simply freeze.
Hands in Time pieces start at $150. However, mention you are a member of Executive Moms and you will SAVE 10% OFF your order.
