Before you invest in, and pop in, a DVD for your kids, you probably have an idea as to what it’s about, whether it’s appropriate for them… and if it’s any good. However, knowing that kids today know how to double-click before they can even read, what about picking the best discs for them for the computer?

We found All Star Reviews a helpful resource on rating kids’ software…

There is in fact a lot of entertaining and/or educational software for kids, but shopping for is often a low consideration, coupled with the fact that most of us are less exposed to the options. This site provides helpful descriptions and reviews of much of the software on the market for kids today, from fun fare involving the likes of Barbie and Scooby Doo, to more obviously educational offerings like Geometry Blaster and Learn to Speak Spanish 7.0.

Browse their reviews by Category, Title, Keyword or Age…

Worth noting though: look outside the set age parameters you think you need, as several of their rated software were deemed best beyond of the age range under which they had it listed. Otherwise, based on actual experience, their reviews seem quite on the mark.
Take their guidance to shop from their site, or on your own…

Some of their reviewed software is available for purchase directly from the AllStarReviews catalog; others from Amazon.com. Noting, though that the average cost of a CD-rom is about $35, having this bit of perspective before you buy can be a valuable money-saver and time-saver. Most importantly, the site is a valuable resource to ensure that this electronic babysitter (dare we say)… plays with your kids just the way you’d like.
