— NY METRO EDITION–

———————————————————————————-

Rainy day activities have come a long way.  Here’s one New York City-based suggestion, that should be particularly enticing to any kid (or parent) who is as interested in exploring the innards of a DVD player as they are in watching a DVD on it…

Anyone can discover their “inner android” at Robot Village

We were taken by the idea of a place that makes science and technology the basis for a destination shop and interactive play space. As a store, Robot Village fills its compact Upper West Side location with educational robot kits, robot books and magazines, wind-ups, collectibles, robot toys, robotic home appliances and a host of other cool robot products.

Even better, spend an hour (or several) building your own

It’s the participatory aspect of Robot Village that is its main draw. Drop by (though appointments help), and they will set you up with all the tools and guidance necessary to build your own robot at one of their Bot-Building Stations. For the not-so-naturally- tech-savvy, “humanoid” instructors are available for private building sessions, to guide you in bringing your own robot to life. (It’s also a novel venue for birthday parties or corporate events, in which robotic themed activities are accompanied by the opportunity for each guest to build and decorate a motorized robot of their own).

Robot Village is located at 252 West 81st Street in New York City. For hours of operation or more information, call them at 212-799-ROBO or learn more at:
