We’ve got back-to-school on the brain… A part of which usually entails daily lunch prep. Though you may already have your brown bag routine down to a science, this new option (a NYC-one, for now) caught our attention:

You can order healthy kids meals that are ready-to-go, from Fresh Direct

If you’re one of those people for whom the Lunchables concept was intriguing (until you saw what was in them) than this could be for you. Looking to offer parents a fresher alternative to pre- packaged meals, the grocery delivery company Fresh Direct worked with their corporate nutritionist to develop a series of all-natural kid meals, made with no preservatives, no nitrites and no antibiotics. Each of the choices (there are currently 6) feature a balance of protein, grains, calcium, fruit and vegetables.

Selections are kid-friendly, and well-priced

Choices include the Pizza Roll Box (with organic mozzarella string cheese, all-natural pizza sauce, an Earth’s Best organic whole-grain granola bar, Walnut Acres organic applesauce and Poland Spring water), and the Turkey Mozzarella Pinwheel Box (with a turkey & organic mozzarella in a pinwheel wrap, packed with Earthbound organic carrots with ranch dip, an Earth’s Best organic whole- grain granola bar and 100% apple juice). Each box, priced at $3.99-$4.99, comes with stickers too, and is sized to fit most lunch boxes.

Not sure what to do for them for dinner? Fresh Direct also has a comparable line of kid-oriented, healthy dinner meals, too.

Looking for a fun and feel-good activity next week?

Executive Moms is extending this invitation on behalf of the Amanda Kanowitz Foundation, to join them for their 2nd Annual Family Fun Day on Sept 10th at Victorian Gardens in Central Park. The event benefits research and treatment for pediatric infectious diseases, founded in memory of the daughter of Exeutive Moms member Alissa Kanowitz, who died suddenly from Influenza B in 2004 at the age of four.
