It might sound like the antithesis of the balanced meal you want your kids (not to mention yourself) to start the day with. Yet an entrepreneurial mom (aptly named Baker) has developed a cookie that not only tastes great– it far surpasses that bowl of cocoa puffs for genuine nutrition…

After trying Baker’s Breakfast Cookies, we’re sold on the occasional cookie for breakfast.

How they are similar to breakfast bars, energy bars and the like: they’re easy to take on the go, and can get you going in the morning.
How they are different: Many breakfast bars are full of preservatives, trans fats and corn syrups; Baker’s Breakfast Cookies are all natural (made with rolled oats, dried fruits, natural peanut butter), low in fat, high in fiber and are a good source of protein and “good fats.”

(And they’re tasty too).

Available in 12 flavors, including fruit&nut, peanut butter and even two vegan varieties, Baker’s Breakfast Cookies are just rolling out into the northeast now, at supermarkets like D’Agostino’s, Giant Foods and Wegmans. Each sells for about $1.69.

If you can’t find them, you can order them on-line at www.bbcookies.com. That old “it’s the most important meal of the day” maxim may not seem like such a threat anymore…
