When it comes to holiday cards (hard to believe it’s even that time already) indeed, ’tis nice to receive, but if you think ’tis overwhelming to send, here are some helpful ideas (and bargains) to cast this chore in a more positive light:

Be strategic to let your cards have maximum impact, as efficiently as possible

  • Cast your net wide: use holiday cards as a chance to reach out to distant friends and colleagues as much as close ones. (Not sure if your personal card is too personal? Consider ordering two different versions).
  • Pre-print a message, but do personalize each one with a small note and handwritten signature. You can even delegate some of the personalizing (or at least envelope-stuffing) to older kids.
  • Don’t hesitate to let your computer address your envelopes for you. Make a master address list and print them all onto standard mailing labels.
  • Love photo cards? Consider versions where the photo is imprinted directly onto the card, so you don’t lose valuable time affixing photos yourself.

A few more thoughts to save time and money:

  • Not sure how many you need? Order up. It’s always less expensive to order extra cards up front than to go back and place a second order.
  • Also double check with the card vendor and/or post office to see if special postage will be required. (If you’ve ever fallen for a square-shaped card, you’ve figured this one out already).
  • Order early to avoid out-of-stocks or back- orders.
  • Save time and money by shopping and ordering on-line.

To that last point, one resource we love is Excellent Paper Place, which carries many of the major lines you would find in fine stationery stores, at 20% OFF the retail price. Cards from the Red or Green Holiday Dots Albums of the popular Stacy Claire Boyd line are an additional 10% off.
