Sometimes it’s just hard to grow up. You start out perfectly bathed, fed, cuddled… and when you cry you tend to get something popped into your mouth to soothe you. Then all of a sudden, you’re a little older and they want that last (really cherished) sucking part to STOP. What’s a kid to think?

Help make saying bye-bye to binky a little easier by “sending” their binkies to BINKYLAND

Binkyland is the recent brainchild of a Canton, Ohio mother who saw both how difficult it was to try to get her daughter to give up her pacifier… and the ensuing dental problems she suffered from using one long-term (till age 6). Her insight: getting kids to kick the habit could be easier if they had a fun, active way to feel like it’s actually a GOOD thing to do.

The result: “The Story of Binkyland,” a slim, toddler- friendly tale that encourages children when ready to send their binky to Binkyland, a wonderful place where you can “wish your binky into anything you want.” The book comes with a special envelope for kids to “mail” theirs off when ready (think letters to the North Pole), as well as a certificate you can later present them with, that makes them a “hero of Binkyland.”

It may not be a panacea (so far our nearly three- year-old pacifier addict is not convinced she’s ready to be a “hero”), but it just might aid and expedite one of young life’s tougher rites of passage. Now of they could just cast a magic spell for potty training…
