The Executive Moms Inaugural Luncheon drew a capacity crowd made up of over 150 media executives, entrepreneurs, lawyers, bankers, doctors, marketing and sales wizards and many more dynamic professionals—all of whom were united by also being mothers.
The connecting and bonding began the minute everyone entered the Penthouse Ballroom and put on their two nametags—one for their name, one for their children’s names.
Over lunch, Executive Moms founder and president Marisa Thalberg shared her thoughts on why she was personally driven to “give birth” to Executive Moms, noting that she “wants all of us to be able to regularly enjoy the particular pleasure that comes from being connected to other really fabulous women with whom you share common ground… to enjoy the relief that comes from that feeling of “oh my god, me too!”
Featured speaker Katherine Wyse Goldman, author of “My Mother Worked and I Turned Out Okay,” helped draw a lot of head-nodding laughter (and actually, even a few tears) as she helped everyone shed feelings of guilt and celebrate all the positives that come from being a working mother— not just for for us, but even for our children. (One key message: so what if dinner comes out of a takeout carton)!
The luncheon ended with lively discussion, announcement of the winner of a $250 gift certificate from the Away spa, compliments of event sponsor Ladies Home Journal…
…and attendees left with a great gift bag, complete with a leather picture frame, Katherine Wyse Goldman’s book “Working Mothers 101,” and the audio CD of the hottest new fiction that happens to be about a working mom, Allison Pearson’s “I Don’t Know How She Does It.”
