So you may keep meaning to read the complete works of Tolstoy, but with life such as it is, some weeks you can barely get through a People magazine. Regardless, you still believe deeply in the importance of books (and want the kids to feel the same). So this weekend, here’s a way to celebrate books with the whole family (and have a little fun):

This week, NEW YORK IS BOOK COUNTRY

And it all culminates Sunday, September 29th with the ANNUAL BOOK FAIR on FIFTH AVENUE (between 48th & 57th Streets), 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

More than 175 booths will offer activities for all ages and opportunities to meet and greet literary luminaries like Scott Turow, Mich’l Chabon, Julie Andrews (yes, she’s an author, too) and “The Magic Treehouse” author Mary Pope Osbourne.

For the kids, Don’t Miss the Children’s Stage at 53rd St.

with performances and appearances throughout the day from the likes of Schoolhouse Rocks (okay, that’s for you, too), R.L. Stine, Belle from “Beauty and the Beast” (a.k.a. Meadow Soprano) and a Ballerina named Angelina.
