Many of
our ideas are sourced from the outside world... but whenever we spend time
learning more about our own Executive Moms' members, it is our own world,
even if often virtual. that can inspire us the most. Recognizing that each of
you has an interesting story, we are happy to share this next
Member Spotlight,
featuring Executive Mom Amy Gittelman,
from New York, NY. Here is a little more about
her, in Momorandum digest version:
Quick
Career Description:
Executive
Director
at
WebMD
The
More-Than-One-Line Career Description:
I'm
a senior-level
sales representative with twenty years of direct sales and eight years of sales
management experience within the Consumer Packaged Goods industry both online
and offline. Since December, 2008, I've been with WebMD, a leading provider of
health information on the internet, where I now manage
an Over-the-Counter drug and CPG team of sales
representatives and support staff.
Fast
Family Facts:
I'm married with one
child, Emmett, who is almost five.
A Piece
of Personal Trivia:
I play
the clarinet, and actually played at Carnegie Hall as part of a NYC-wide
orchestral program in Junior High School. I love music and have spent the last
five years allowing my son to listen to my CDs (over 1000 of them) so that he
now has an extremely varied love of music, that ranges from The Doors, The Who
and Red Hot Chili Peppers ... to Classical and Brazilian.
Executive Mom Pearl of Wisdom:
No matter how bad the
day may be at work, once I walk through the door and see my son it all becomes
irrelevant, as he brings joy to my life unlike anything else. Making sure my
family comes first, and making everyone at work is aware that this is the case,
helps set expectations for everyone. I really believe you CAN do both (work +
family) -- if you set the stage.

Supporting Artists
We have a major
passion for the arts and couldn't believe more strongly in the power of
instilling a love for, and involvement with, the arts in our children. With
funding for arts in the schools in ongoing jeopardy, we wanted to share
two
incredible benefit performances in which we are
involved, that help bring these arts to our children. If you are in the NY area
for either... buy tickets, bring your kids, and come!
Theatreworks USA Benefit for Free Summer Theatre
The
largest not-for-profit theatre for young and family audiences in the nation,
TheatreworksUSA
has entertained and educated over 78 million people in 49 states and Canada.
Since 1989, they have provided free tickets to the very best in family
entertainment for thousands of New York-area kids and families. This
summer, Jon Stewart will meet the Jonas Brothers when WE THE PEOPLE:
AMERICA ROCKS!, a hip new musical for the whole family, has its world
premiere. To help support this wonderful program,
Theatreworks USA is holding an
opening night benefit performance and party on Wednesday, July 14, 2010
(at the family-friendly curtain time of 6:30 pm). Tickets start as low as
$50. Executive Moms supports Theatreworks and would love to see lots of
our members there!

National Dance Institute Event of
the Year
Founded
by legendary American dancer
Jacques D'Amboise,
the National Dance Institute was founded in the belief that the arts have a
unique power to engage children and motivate them toward excellence. Since
1976, NDI has touched and transformed over 2 million public school students,
who have not paid a penny for their in-school and extracurricular programs.
Select students ranging from elementary school on up, who were selected from
across New York City for their talent and enthusiasm, participate all year in an
advanced dance program that culminates in
NDI's "Event of the Year"
- a dance performance that this year explores storytelling traditions around the
world. Shows are
June 19th, 20th and 21st
at the LaGuardia High School of the Arts Concert Hall. Tickets are just
$12 in advance.
