You can cab it with new confidence by consulting the World Taxi Meter...We love this service that you can access on the web or via your mobile, to get an estimated taxi fare for routes in several major cities worldwide. Type in your starting address and destination (or pick from drop- down menus of popular sites within the city), and your projected travel cost is calculated-- including nuances like wait time and tip. 
Get a quick glimpse at your route before you go...For an unfamiliar city, a quick route check beforehand will also calculate your estimated travel time, (key for a can't-miss appointment); and on the web version, a Google Map feature visualizes where you are going. As for the fares, click the handy- dandy currency coverter and you'll know what you're really going to spend. Current cities they support:Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Boston, Dublin, London, Los Angeles, Madrid, New York, Paris, Prague, Rome, San Francisco, and Toronto.
